Montreal in Early November

A few days ago, Terry and I headed to Montreal.

We wanted to see the special sound and light show that was playing at the Basilica in Old Montreal, in honor of Montreal's 375th birthday.

Why not stay for a few days, to enjoy our old "stomping ground" before winter arrives?!

Fortunately the weather was nice - if a little cool.

The sound and light show, entitled "Aura," had been playing several times a week since early spring, so we didn't expect to see a large crowd there - but we were surprised... Several hundred had come to see the elegant church lit up.

We had time to wander around our old neighborhood and lament some of the changes.

The building we had lived in when we were first married still looked lovely...

But a few blocks away, across the street from the church where we were married...

...the former children's hospital was being torn down...

... to make way for two tall condos buildings.

It was sad to see the building being reduced to piles of rubble.

Change is inevitable, I guess...

I wonder what that corner will look like next time we're there.
