Back to Wolfe Island

A week ago Terry and I took the ferry from Kingston, Ontario over to nearby Wolfe Island.

(The spelling of the name indicates that the island was named not after the animals - wolves - but rather, the General Wolfe.)

The most remarkable feature of Wolfe Island - from across the water - is its many windmills, which aren't that noticeable once you set foot on the island.

Our plan was to drive around the island and see some of its sights.

We came across this tiny museum - located in the oldest building on the island.

We discovered that most of the land was agricultural farm land.

We were looking for beaches, but didn't see many.

The largest community- Marysville - is where the ferry to Kingston docks.

We wandered around a bit before heading back.

I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like live in a community where last names aren't necessary... Everyone apparently knows who "Mike" (for mayor) is!
