I recently passed s soap display that brought back a flood of childhood memories...
Pears soap... (Established in 1807 - so it's been around a long time.)
The memories? Pears transparent soap bars were the only ones I ever saw in a childhood friend's home.
Were they a luxury? My mother (always thrifty) never purchased them. I remember examining them in fascination. They had a slightly medicinal scent. Why were they so transparent?
Thinking of my good friend, Jean, whose family always used this soap, I bought a box...
Because of the memories.
