Last year I brought home several pottery pieces that weren't dry enough to go into the kiln.
They spend the summer and fall wrapped in plastic, slowly drying in our basement...
Now they're glazed and home again!

What to Do With... Old Wedding Invitations?!
My mother was a sentimental person who kept a lot of souvenirs... Going through her things is hard. (I have to be in a mood for throwing things out!)
Recently I came across a pile of old wedding invitations.
Do I keep them or throw them out...?
Just toss them! a friend suggested when I told her what I was doing.
In the end, I did throw quite a few out. But I slipped a few of the family invitations into a file of genealogical information.
Among the most interesting - to me - were these two... An invitation to the wedding of one of my father's cousins... And a second, dated about 25 years later, to the wedding of his daughter!

Another Great Quilt Idea...
I have been coming across so many great quilting ideas...
This variation on a herringbone pattern has me really excited... It reminds me of feathers!
Years ago, I made this herringbone quilt. I really enjoyed making it...
Maybe it's time for me to try another!

Winter Exploring
We don't go out driving much now that winter is here. Icy roads can be a challenge...
But I miss our weekly jaunts to small towns in our area.
Recently I suggested to Terry that we head over to shop on the Quebec side of our community - on the other side of the river.
Now everyone is deterred by icy roads and sidewalks... We even saw a jogger.
What's this?!
Deer! I thought they only come out at night...
Glad we headed out for a change of scene!

Quilt... Done!
I have been trying to complete a few quilts this winter...
I've finally completed this one, that I started a few months ago.
One of my art instructors once remarked that, whenever she finishes a piece, she puts it out where she can see it - to see if she is satisfied with it or if something needs to be changed.
I'm doing the same with this one.
My design was inspired by a quilt I saw on Pinterest.
The back, the hidden side, is a great place to use up fabric scraps..

Yes! We Do Have Snow Again!
Winter - to me - is a constant concern, not so much about cold temperatures, as in: How cold is it outside today?
Instead, I preoccupy myself with the question: How slippery is it outdoors? How easily can I walk outside today?
So I was somewhat dismayed, yesterday, to discover ... more snow! Why? It hides the ice!
Terry is dismayed when he has to shovel - but I am fearful if I have to simply step outdoors!

Trying to Enjoy Winter...
I'm not a winter person, but - these mid-winter days - I'm trying to make the best of our coldest season...
I'm delighted when the sun dries up the ice and snow...
These respites are always too brief: after a day or two of walk-able weather, snow or freezing rain follow.
Daylight hours are getting longer! I love that! Mornings and evenings often give us beautiful skies...
With so many indoor projects I want to finish, I'm not sure why winter always seems too long!
