I have childhood memories of making and flying kites...
In those days, I did it all - I'd make a frame out of two sticks, cut a brown paper bag into the right shape and glue it onto the frame.
Make a tail out of tissue paper and string.
Sometimes my homemade kites flew well - sometimes they didn't! But they were never amazing!
Later in life, when I'd see people flying store-bought kites, I'd feel a bit envious ... like watching someone drive a Lamborghini.
Recently I got back into kiting - for a day. I got my grandson a fancy airplane kite and helped him put it together. Then we went out to fly it...
I hoped it would fly more easily than my old stick-and-paper kites. I hoped it would be easy and AMAZING!
It wasn't!
But we had fun trying to get the kite up. Unfortunately, the wind wasn't strong enough.
(I choose to blame the wind!)
