Memorable Summer Adventure

One summer, when our children were in their teens, our family had a different kind of summer vacation. Instead of driving a long distance, as we often did when we travelled to Cape Cod or visited relatives in Texas or western Canada, we decided to spend our vacation closer to home, white-water rafting in the Ottawa River and horseback riding nearby.

It truly was a memorable few days!

I haven't found any photos of our horseback trail ride.

But these pictures of Terry white-water rafting with our two older kids will always bring back the memory of a sudden wave that tossed Terry into the air, tumbling backwards. (Yes, that's him, with his foot in the air!) Did he land on the poor woman sitting behind him?! Did she fall out of the raft?! No one can remember!

But the pictures remind us that we didn't have to travel far to find adventure...

We had a memorable vacation that - for some reason - no one wanted to repeat!
